We are back on the road this month with our first ever roadshow in Southern California! The first stop on our Coastal California Roadshow will bring us to Siete at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel.

Our first stop brings us to the beautiful Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa with our Destination showcase in the Ocean Ballroom from 4:00 – 5:30 pm followed by a “Barbie’s Playhouse” themed cocktail reception at the Eau Palm Beach Kids’ Club from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Our first stop on our 2023 New South Roadshow brings us to The Thompson Buckhead. Opening in December 2021, The Thompson Buckhead features 201 guest rooms, restaurant Dirty Rascal and members only Tesserae Rooftop Bar and Lounge, which guests will have access to when renting a suite.

Inspired by old-school red sauce restaurants in New York and classic Italian joints found just off the strip in Las Vegas, Dirty Rascal brings the swanky, mid-century vibes in the dining room and in the food they serve.

The definition of Tesserae reads, a composition of individual parts that forms a structure more beautiful in its combined power. Based on the idea of bringing people together from all backgrounds for events, entertainment and good times, Tesserae has created a club meant to be “exclusively inclusive”. Blurring the lines between work, rest and play the club offers a warm, elevated environment to foster a shared space for its members. And club rules…lap tops get turned off at 4 pm. If you know us you know we love good food! Each Roadshow event takes in to careful consideration a curated dining experience for our attendees and hotel partners.

Depending on the region we are in, of course, you may find yourself having a fine dining experience with us, or grazing on a beautiful mezze board or sampling a full plant-based meal to stuffing yourself with comfort food. One thing we know is no one walks away hungry from our Roadshow events! Food is one of our favorite experiences to bring you when you attend. There’s nothing like good conversation over good food!

You know what else we do well and love to do?
Give back.

Thanks to our generous hotel partners we have been able to auction off incredible travel packages at each of our recent Roadshows. Our fabulous meeting and event planner attendees then get the opportunity to bid on these travel packages during the travel showcase. Some of them are once in a life time trips!

The money from those auctions then goes to one of our favorite charities, Wine to Water, who this year, in a time of desperate need, has a fund to help people in Ukraine.

To date, in 2022, Retreats Resources has proudly raised and donated $42,000 for the Wine to Water Ukraine Fund! Thanks to our extremely giving family of hotel partners and meeting planners.

You make us proud every day we get to do something like this and give back.

One of the most important alliances we have made as a business is our relationship with Wine to Water,founded in 2007 by CNN “Hero” finalist, Doc Hendley. We have been at it for so long, they consider us a part of their family of ” Founders”, and over the years, we have raised well over $100,000 through our lively travel package auctions.

Though they didn’t start out as a relief organization, Wine to Water has now been responsible for providing safe drinking water in many unforeseen natural disasters – from Haiti to the Bahamas, and even in Louisiana and your beloved Texas.

They are now partnering with a relief organization in Ukraine and neighboring countries to supply and distribute 12,000 water filters to those who need them most. With water infrastructure and supply chains disrupted in the region, people depend on surface water from rivers, rain, or untreated sources. The portable, inexpensive water filters that W/W provides, give families and shelters a way to prevent waterborne illnesses, avoid dependencies on single use plastics and reduce more waste going to the massive piles of debris in this crisis.

Many of our big-hearted destination partners have donated some generous travel packages that we will be offering in a silent auction format, and 100% of the money raised will go directly to W|W and their efforts in Ukraine.

Wax Myrtle’s, named after the southern shrub and located in the Thompson Hotels brand luxury contemporary Thompson Austin in the heart of downtown, wants guests to feel at home while dining there, with food inspired by memories made over meals with friends. (awwww! We love that feeling!)

Hundreds of plants are used in the décor of the dining space, including a living green wall, and creates spaces for small groups to gather throughout the venue and pays tribute to the diverse plant life in Texas.

Adjacent to the main indoor outdoor space is the Bayberry Room, a private event space with full bar, stage and private dining area.

Fun Fact: Inside the Thompson Austin you will find 6300 square feet of carefully designed meeting and event space. Also carefully named are the five names behind the special event spaces which are named Kelly, Red River, Singer, Newton and Bass….all famous outlaws around Texas in the early 1800s into the 1900s. Notorious for stealing gold, silver and precious stones, they allegedly buried more than $340 million worth of hidden treasure around Texas which has yet to be found. The city of Austin is often considered the outlaw of Texas so the names are only fitting to capture Austin’s rebellious spirit.
